Alcohol is alcohol. The alcohol in moonshine is the same as that of beer, wine, gin, etc. Pick your poison, and it’s the same alcohol. It is called ethyl alcohol, or ethanol, and it’ll get you drunk–some faster, some slower. The fact that liquor tends to contain higher concentrations of ethanol than beer, just means that the same volume of different alcoholic beverages will get you more/less drunk.
By this logic the only real difference between one drink over another is the mode of delivery. Shots of Tequila tend to get downed much quicker than a 12 oz. bottle of beer. It’s stronger and consumed faster, resulting in a rapid spike in blood alcohol level, and a rapid drop in one’s inhibitions. But any perceived difference between the drunk you feel is only a matter of the rate and proof….right?
